This project is about learning to track your organization until it becomes a habit. My goal for this project was to quantify my organization tasks to see how efficient I could being in three related, but different activities. I chose my activities based on the busy schedule I’ve had this semester, so it very much relates to my practices in an academic setting, but these skills can easily be translated out to any habit you want to create.
Small Changes For The Greater Good
I incorporated 3 major ideas from the book into my daily routine. The objective was to help achieve my goal of attaining a B- average in my core classes. Through continued use, these strategies have had a positive effect. I have also learned that moderation is key to success of any new thing that you try to incorporate into your life.
The Medication to Procrastination
For this course project, when asked to identify a goal I wanted to accomplish by the end of this semester, I knew right away what I needed to work towards—procrastination. I can’t tell you how challenging it has been for me to accomplish this goal of cutting procrastination completely out of my life. I still sometimes struggle with handling all the distractions in my life and pushing them all away so I can get my work done. The experiment of using tracking methods made the biggest progress for me in pursuing my goal. Physically writing down things I had to do instead of just looking at Carmen was an immense help. In my Course Project Takeaways, I described to the reader what day-to-day procrastinators struggle with, all the obstacles I faced, the book I chose and why, the lessons I’ve learned, the strategies from the book I used, and I also incorporated all the steps I took in seeking out my course project goal. I now not only realize that this is a course project goal, but also a life goal. I cannot keep procrastinating my whole life, it could be detrimental.
MANAGING STUDY TIME EFFECTIVELY
This blog post shows the skills for effective time management. The post discusses the skills I picked after reading the book, Organize Tomorrow Today, by Jason Selk, Tom Bartow, and Matthew Rudy which contained hints regarding effective time management. The post also shows how I employed the skills in managing time for classwork, exams and ultimately short and long term life goals. Tracking examples that I used are also included therein. The post then discusses the major takeaways and then recommends that students apply the time management skills discussed.
